- 1964 Chevy Malibu SS Convertible Frame Replacement

Our latest shop customer found his most recent muscle car purchase to be less that desirable from the bottom side.
The rear section of frame from the axle arches back was literally falling apart.
The frame showed crude repairs and was covered in body filler which made any guess about the overall condition of this frame just that a, a guess.
Upon removal of the frame it became obvious the body would need repairs to the floor braces and inner rockers.
The frame would be replaced with a reconditioned frame with a electromagnetically applied paint called powder coating.
The drive train and suspension would be swapped from the old frame to the new while the body was being repaired.
The fuel and brake lines were in poor condition and of poor quality. They were replaced with new lines.
The coil springs, front and rear, had spaces installed, so they were replaced with new springs.
The A plates were sand blasted and the ball joints and bushings were replaced as they were in poor condition and appeared to be vintage 1964 hardware.
The rear control arms were too rusty and were replaced along with new bushings in the rear differential.
The rear differential was pressure washed and painted.
As the chassis was reconstructed with the frame, numerous exhaust leaks were welded shut from over the top of the pipes.
Our under carriage repairs to the body were undercoated, and the chassis and the body were rejoined. The gas tank was reinstalled with new straps.
